Espresso vs drip: the volume knob
A shot is a gasp. A mug is a swimming pool. Overcaffeinated does not care which story you meant to read.
People argue about espresso versus drip as if concentration were the same as dose. A typical ristretto is a small, loud amount of caffeine. A big mug of drip can quietly outrun it because the mug is a swimming pool and the shot is a gasp.
Overcaffeinated is a slider, not a setting. At two cups: delightful, polite to houseplants. At five: vibrating, whiteboard of arrows. At six: a startup, explained to a fern that did not ask.
Brew ratio is the hidden plot. Espresso’s 1:2 is a short story. Batch brew at 1:16 is a novel. If you drink the novel in an office mug the size of a flowerpot, you have not had “less coffee.” You have had a different book.
The Decaf Doppelgänger turns the knob to velvet and still holds the mug like a member. Decaf is not water. It is coffee that chose a career in jazz. The table will pretend not to know.
Pick your format on purpose. The Goblin wants a paragraph. The Beast wants whatever is already poured. Overcaffeinated wants the tasting flight, then another, then the houseplant’s equity.
