Caffeine half-life for monsters
Five hours, give or take a bakery that will never open.
Caffeine’s half-life is a plot device with a medical citation. About five hours for many adults. Faster if you smoke. Slower if you are pregnant, on the pill, or genetically fond of lingering. The Midnight Maximalist treats this as a dare.
A 21:30 double espresso is not gone at midnight. It is merely quieter, still sitting on adenosine receptors like a guest who brought a second bottle. Overcaffeinated stacks doses until the houseplant gets a pitch deck.
Sleep architecture takes the hit even when you “fall asleep fine.” Deep sleep fragments. Morning Beast energy is sometimes just last night’s club still on the guest list.
Practical monster math: if you want to be a person at 07:00, stop pouring inside two half-lives of the alarm. If you want to found a bakery that will not happen, stand in the 21:30 club and let the streetlights look friendly.
The comic is the bakery. The science is why the bakery never opens and the third cup always does.

A shot is a gasp. A mug is a swimming pool. Overcaffeinated does not care which story you meant to read.
