Why hotel coffee is a plot twist

Welcome-letter fonts, insulted kettles, and the sock that saved the pitcher.

Hotel coffee is a genre: a pouch, a machine with one button, water that has seen things. Kit Carrier refuses to be in that plot. Foam Fennec refuses to foam in it.

The insult is not caffeine. Instant can be an emergency and even an honest one. The insult is the performance of coffee — a tray, a logo, a temperature that scalds flavour into cardboard — while a goose-neck sits in the bag wearing nothing because you forgot the sock.

Travel brewing is constraint as craft. Tiny desk, bad water, good grind, one cup. The pitcher in a sock is the difference between a flat white and a sad office fern at 06:40 in a city you do not live in.

If you must drink the pouch, drink it without lying to yourself. If you packed the bar, use the bar. The Nespresso capsule can stay in the welcome letter.
